Thanksgiving Checklist Starting the Week Before

Thanksgiving is a week away. How are you feeling? Are you excited, nervous, or just tired? No matter how you’re feeling, here is a Thanksgiving checklist. Read it over, regardless if you’re the host or guest.

    1. Buy your turkey. Pay attention to how many guests are coming to dinner. I understand that it’s one pound per person. The amount of turkey probably depends on how much your guests eat.

    2. If you have the turkey, ensure that you give it adequate time to defrost. Defrosting a turkey takes several days, so check that turkey.

    3. Declutter the house now. Put things where they belong. Throw away or donate items. If you haven’t used it all year, then it is time to give it a new home. A clean house will not only make you feel better, but you’ll be happier on Thanksgiving morning.

    4. Plan your sides and desserts and know what ingredients you want to buy. Pumpkin pie is a fantastic choice.

    5. Do you have enough seating and table space? Think about comfortable spacing and room for plates, drinks, and dishes. If you’re the host, sit in a place where you can access the kitchen easily for supplies.

    6. Make sure you have plates, napkins, and silverware. Some dishes and utensils look nice enough for the table, and they’re disposable!

    7. If you’re a guest, bring something with you. Ask in advance what the host needs or wants. If they request a sure thing, please get it because they’re relying on you to do so.

Enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving! It doesn’t need to be perfect but enjoy the moment.
