Today was filled with moments that brought me joy and reminded me of the beauty in everyday life. In the hustle and bustle of daily routines, it’s easy to overlook the small things that can bring us happiness. Here’s a reflection on what brought me joy today:
Morning Conversations
The day started on a high note with a heartwarming conversation with a dear friend. We shared laughs, caught up on life, and simply enjoyed each other’s company. These moments of connection remind me of the importance of friendships and how they add richness to our lives. I am fortunate to have a group of women in my life who get me ready on rotating days. All of them are my friends. Today we had an unique challenge because the battery of my van died when she was going to drive me to teach Catholic prep. Luckily, my battery starter helped!
Sense of Accomplishment
I felt a sense of accomplishment today by completing important tasks. I taught my fourth-grade prep class about the third commandment. They paid attention and were engaged. Afterward, I went to Mass and watched Jason altar serve. Today is the last day of the Christmas season. We received a blessed piece of chalk to write, “CMB 2025,” above our doors. We do this to as a reminder that God is welcome at our house. Jason happily did this when we returned home.
I hired a former student to assist me a couple of hours on Sunday afternoons. We emptied the dishwasher, cleaned out the refrigerator, cleaned the kitchen, living room, and dining room. She helped me with paperwork and a snack. No one realized how grateful I am for anyone who helps me in these areas.
A Relaxing Break
Amidst the busyness, I took some time for a relaxing break. My dad, Jason and I went to breakfast. We went to the pet store after so Jason could get crickets for his anole. We went to the Hallmark store. I have a candle warmer and like to switch my candles daily. Jason picked out a candle for me. I also bought some things for 60% off like a big Hallmark movie mug and Snoopy blanket.
In the evening, I invited my nephew over after Jason math tutoring to watch the movie – A Quiet Place Part 2. We found out school was canceled due to snow so I invited him over. We ate dinner and watched the movie.
Creative Expression
Engaging in a creative activity today also brought me joy. Whether it was writing, drawing, or playing music, the act of expressing myself creatively allowed me to tap into my inner thoughts and emotions. Creativity is a powerful outlet for self-expression and brings a deep sense of fulfillment. I wrote and listened to music.
Acts of Kindness
A colleague said to schedule a certain field trip that I help arrange so I could go before my teaching assignment ended. This simple act made me feel appreciated, belonging and not a burden. I felt really good.
A Good Book
Ending the day with a good book is one of my favorite ways to unwind. Immersing myself in a captivating story transports me to another world and provides a sense of escapism. Reading not only entertains but also enriches the mind and soul.
Today was a reminder that joy can be found in the simplest of things – from meaningful conversations and accomplishments to moments of relaxation and creative expression. By taking the time to appreciate these small joys, we can cultivate a sense of gratitude and happiness in our daily lives. Here’s to finding joy in every day, one moment at a time.
I hope this reflection captures the essence of what brought you joy today. How does this resonate with your experiences?
