Gas and Food Prices Rising Takes a Toll

Gas prices, inflation and food prices are on most people’s mind. I have had anxiety over this as a mom with cerebral palsy.  No choice for us who need a wheelchair van that uses much gas instead of a fuel economical car.  Buying food requires more thought for the kids who like to eat fruits, vegetables and meat.  I’m not a hopeless person, but until the current administration changes course, I don’t see anything improving.

There are several memes circulating social media that people shouldn’t complain about gas prices because they buy Starbucks coffee.  Or, we shouldn’t complain about gas prices because there are homeless people.   Sadly, there will always be someone in a worse situation.  But, it doesn’t take from the root of the gas price problem.  It’s like parents telling children to eat their food because of starving children in another country. It doesn’t equate.

As far as Starbucks, I’d never buy a $9 drink nor do I like Starbucks. However, if someone does like Starbucks, they still can be upset about gas.  When a different administration was in office no one really had an issue buying gas and some luxuries.

Another reason why I’m upset is not everyone has spare money anymore. My dad who normally spends $45 on groceries for the week just spent $120 on exact same items today at Giant.  It’s been a gradual increase this year.  Something is not right with this economy.  It went from improving after the worst of the pandemic to the worst economy in decades.

I’m upset (and others) because it doesn’t have to be this way.  The current administration was warned multiple times what shutting down the pipeline would do, but he choose to shut it down regardless day one of office.   No plan. No regard to others.

Prices on everything has been raising as a result.   More expensive gas equals more expensive products.  Higher taxes also equals more expensive products.

I’m scared for us especially low income or set incomes.  Choosing between food or transportation  doesn’t need to happen.  We can’t blame it on Russia completely because this has been ongoing since a certain person took office.

I have no choice but to drive a van for my wheelchair. I can’t get a fuel economy car or electric car because it’s not wheelchair accessible. As of late, I  think hard before going any place if it’s worth the gas money because I have bills to pay.

Just another perspective.  I’m praying that the current administration changes course to help us instead of hurt us.
