Shopping is fun to do for yourself, but especially for other people. Christmas is approaching, so I want to share my favorite things. Specifically, this list is items that worked for me, having a disability. I hope it’ll help someone you know or yourself if you have a disability as well.

  1. Casper Pillow – Sleeping is challenging with cerebral palsy. Getting comfortable and staying asleep can be challenging. My friend told me about the Casper pillow, so I eventually tried it. I now look forward to going to bed because the pillow helps me fall and stay asleep.
  2. Keurig – I am not a coffee drinker but I enjoy hot chocolate. I decided to try the Keurig Mini, which makes making hot chocolate simple. If I had more mastery, I could use this independently. My 9-year-old son can use it and makes hot chocolate too. I also have coffee for guests.
  3. Soundcore headphones: Headphones are challenging to buy when you have cerebral palsy. Staying on my head is a difficult job. However, I recently purchased these headphones, and the sound is incredible. They stay on my head, especially if I wear my hair in a ponytail. They are also comfortable on the ears and over the head. My daughter loves them as well, and now she has a pair.
  4. Phone lanyard – I’d drop my phone without a lanyard. The lanyard works with any phone and case. As a result, my phone is easily accessible, and I never worry about dropping my phone again.
  5. Ottoman – I am not in my wheelchair at home. When I want to get on the couch, I use this ottoman to climb on and then climb onto the couch. The ottoman is sturdy and has storage.
  6. Card-carrying iPhone case – I like it because it holds several cards to make it easier when I’m out shopping. The cards are easy to take out and put back inside. Buy this case.
  7. Hair dryer/straightener – I love my brush which is a hair dryer and straightening. It makes drying hair so much quicker. I can’t use it myself, but my caregiver says it’s effortless.
  8. Fitbit Charge 5 – I enjoy counting steps with my hand. This fitness tracker keeps me active, and I like the app. Also, it’s nice to see how much sleep I get a night. Buy the FitBit Charge 5
  9. Sweatsuit – Sometimes, I have no choice but to dress. These sweatsuits are easy to get on and off and look stylish.
  10. Jeans – I like jeans, but buttons aren’t easy with a disability. I like these jeans because they look nice and feel comfortable.
  11. Shark Robot Vacuum – I like being able to vacuum independently. This does a good job and probably a perfect job if you didn’t have 3 dogs and 4 cats. Buy the vacuum.

IPads, iPhones, soft blankets and anything that makes life easier is always welcome!
