Jason end of summer adventure I really don’t want summer to end, but it needs to, unfortunately. Today is Labor Day, and the unofficial day of summer. The weather has been absolutely amazing this summer especially in August. Usually we go on trips and vacations, but this summer we stayed mainly at home. I’m certainly not complaining because it was amazing anyway.

Jason went to summer camp for many weeks. He went to the same camp that he was going to attend pre kindergarten. The camp was about four hours a day, and he loved it. Although getting up early deemed difficult on summer vacation, Jason loved going. He sang songs, did crafts, and had fun activities.

Laura went to ukulele practice once a week. She plays wonderfully and learns new songs pretty easily. She liked a church camp that had several fun activities. Laura went to camp that her school put on to both be enjoyable and keep students up on academics. Laura gave me a difficult time about going, but she loved going and asked me to extend it another week. I’m glad she had so much fun and wants to go next summer.

This summer also left us paying for unexpected house things. During the heatwave in July, our central air conditioning unit completely died. I found a company that came and replaced it the very next day. Luckily, Jeff just got us a brand new couch, and we slept on it with fans on us. I like our new couch even though it’s huge. But we can all sit on it comfortably and with a stool, I can get on it myself. That night we slept on it, Jason woke up confused and went looking for us at night. We were right there with him poor guy.

The day that the AC went in felt ridiculously hot. We couldn’t leave because they worked on the house. We ate lots of ice cream and water ice. Cerebral Palsy doesn’t like heat very much either so it really wasn’t fun. We survived though.

A little later on, we needed our electrical panel replaced. One night our house looked like a haunted mansion with blinking lights. So there went some more money. We are also revamping our outdoor space, but in the end, it’ll all work out.

We did do fun things like go to Dorney Park, Crayola Factory, walks, zoos etc. This past weekend Jeff had off work. On Saturday, we took Jason to the museum for Star Wars Day. He loved it because since he turned two, he loved Star Wars. Someone said my wheelchair made a cool space ship. Cute! Yesterday Jeff cooked up a storm for us and we had an impromptu picnic and another one today.

Tomorrow Jason has his first day of pre k and Laura’s off to her second week of fifth grade. I’ll be getting my classroom ready to teach Sunday school, house errands, open houses, finding a job and life. Here we come Autumn, here we come!
