Material items fade away, but kindness stays

Material items are in our mind in November and December. Christmas often equates with presents. Giving presents is sweet and kind. However, these gifts can be kept small and humble. Sometimes we equate material items to status and we feel that giving gifts means we don’t need to be loving or kind.

Owning the most expensive material items doesn’t mean you’re perfect. In fact, the most humble people are the happiest. Being humble means being happy with what you own. Material items are just items. We need to act in a loving, forgiving, kind manner. Let your words reflect God in everything you think and do.

I struggle because I want a certain position in my career, but no matter what I do, it doesn’t look like I will get that position. I’m learning that God does not care about a career as He cares about how we talk, what we think, and our actions. I might not be able to achieve the career I desire, but if I live to praise God – I have everything that I need. Giving our lives over to God actually gives us our freedom. God has a perfect plan for you. This plan doesn’t mean life will be easy, disappointment-free, or pain-free. However, if it’s God’s plan, we will be fulfilled.

Resist Sin and Material items to Kindness

Resist sin daily. How? We start today with small steps. Whenever we are tempted to sin, pray the Hail Mary. Go do something productive prayer or action. Resist material items that result in sin. Take it one step at a time. Love your neighbor by being kind to each other.  Baptism washes away sin. Use your Baptism promises each day with those around you. Place a cross sign on children to remind them that they are a son or daughter of God. Your children belong to God. Have the heart of Jesus.
