Fun Activities During the Coronavirus Stay Home

Fun times during these crazy times

Fun isn’t always associated with social distancing. Keeping occupied in these times of isolation is essential.  Kids are used to the busy school schedule so it’s a huge change.  As a mom with cerebral palsy, using the imagination to keep busy is challenging.  I absolutely love Pinterest plus ideas that come from others on social media. Please feel free to share any insights that you have.

Jason has enjoyed LEGO challenges that have been going around Facebook.  He looks forward to them everyday.  I admit he has gotten quite good, and I recorded each build.  We also go on walks – more walks than we ever have.  What’s really nice about it is that every time we go for a walk, we see people who we haven’t even met yet.  We are all friendly to each other because it’s nice to see another human being!

When I go for a walk by myself, I pray the Rosary and other prayers.  It’s a nice way to refocus on what is really important.  I also feel hopeful when I pray and gives me strength.

The kids like to play all kinds of games but mostly the ones that they make up in their heads. They can play for hours with just a couple of balls and rope.  Minecraft is a huge one at our house and let’s the imagination soar.  They play Minecraft stories on and off the computer or iPad.

Laura has baked a few times.  One night she was so happy that I let her create her own thing to bake.  It didn’t come out quite right, but the learning experience was fun. She felt happy to do it together. She has also made strawberry cupcakes, and they came out delicious.  I’m excited to see what she makes next.

They have built forts and tunnels.  Sleeping in each other’s room is fun and good change of pace.  I keep a routine of dressing and showering. We eat at our normal times.  When Jeff gets home, he always gives me my time away from the kids so I can rejuvenate.

One day we will all go back to our normal busy lives. Hopefully, we won’t forget our time together. The time that parents became teachers, strangers were happy to see you across the street, people pulled together to help each other and we all became grateful for everything.
